Injured hiker rescued Saturday from Charles Deam Wilderness in Southern Indiana

A hiker was rescued after getting injured Saturday evening in the Charles Deam Wilderness, according to the Monroe Fire Protection District.

The MPD posted the following to Facebook:

“Station 21 and 22 crews responded to the Charles Deam Wilderness to assist an injured hiker earlier this evening.

The hiker was helped most of the way out of the woods by another individual who was hiking with them and called 911. Firefighters meet up with the injured hiker on the Sycamore Trail where they loaded the hiker onto a special cart and wheeled them the rest of the way out of the woods.”
