Police arrested a 28-year-old man after he allegedly tried to force entry into a residence, and was shot at, according to the Bloomington Police Department.
Police responded to the 2300 block of South Brandon Court Sunday afternoon after a man fired two gunshots.
According to the police report, a man said he was at home with a juvenile when he heard someone trying to force their way into his residence. The homeowner then opened the front door and asked the potential intruder to leave the property. He then went to retrieve a .40 caliber handgun.
However, instead of leaving, the suspect began looking inside the home through the windows. So, the homeowner confronted the suspect who was coming towards him and fired a single round into the ground. This didn’t stop the suspect who began to argue with him. The homeowner did not know the suspect.
The suspect then put his hand up and began moving toward the homeowner again, who then fired a round at the suspect. The suspect then fled.
Witnesses confirmed the narrative to the police, and their description of the suspect was the same as the homeowner gave police.
Police soon found a man matching the description in the woods behind Crawford apartments, and took him into custody. The suspect then admitted to attempting residential entry.
The suspect is being charged with residential entry, which is a level 6 felony.
