Police are investigating a stabbing around 1:23 a.m. New Year’s Day 2023, which left a man injured in the 200 block of South College Avenue. The stabbing victim was standing and talking to first responders before being transported to a hospital.
The man stumbled from an alley to a nearby bar where patrons called the police, a source told the Bloomingtonian. Members of the Bloomington Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and Indiana State Police converged on the scene to assist the injured man, then EMS workers arrived to take the victim to the hospital. First responders wrapped the man’s stomach with material to slow down the bleeding.
The alley was surrounded on both ends with police cordon tape during an investigation.
The Bloomingtonian will update this story once the police have time to finish the investigation and release information to the public.
