Driver points loaded AR-15 rifle at another vehicle during road rage incident on I-69 Sunday in Bloomington, Indiana

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office posted the following to Facebook Sunday:

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a road rage incident that occurred on southbound I-69. On January 8th at approximately 4:46 p.m., deputies responded to the are in reference to a report of a person in a white GMC Acadia pointing an AR-15 rifle.

Deputies located the Acadia, with the matching license plate number, near the intersection of N. Walnut and the 45/46 Bypass. A high risk traffic stop was conducted and the suspect, Rhyan Shepard, age 24, was taken into custody.

Upon a probable cause search of the vehicle, a loaded AR-15 style rifle was located in the back seat along with an additional semi automatic handgun. In addition to the firearms, assorted bottles of commercially packaged cough syrup containing THC, a scale, and other smoking paraphernalia were located inside the cabin of the SUV.

Mr. Shepard was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Center and remanded on the following charges:

35-48-4-11(a)(1) Possession of marijuana as a Class B Misdemeanor,

35-48-4-10(a)(1) Dealing in marijuana as a Class A Misdemeanor,

35-47-4-3(b) Point a firearm as a Level 6 Felony (X2),

35-45-2-1(a)(3)(B) Intimidation as a Level 5 Felony (X2)

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
