Bloomington Police Investigate Shooting
On April 13, 2023, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers with the Bloomington Police Department responded to the 1200 block of N Maple Street in reference to multiple 911 callers reporting several gunshots in the area. While officers were en route to the area, the Central Emergency Dispatch Center received another 911 call from a business in the 700 block of W 17th Street reporting that a woman had entered their business saying she had been shot. Upon the arrival of officers, a 45 year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds was located in the parking lot of the business. Officers began providing immediate medical care and an ambulance arrived shortly thereafter. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance where investigators were later able to interview her.
The vehicle the victim had arrived at the business in was also located in the parking lot and had multiple bullet holes in it. Investigators determined that the shooting had occurred in the 1200 block of N Maple Street. Officers located several spent casings in the street where the shooting occurred. The woman reported that she was attempting to back out of a driveway on N Maple Street when she observed a vehicle stop behind hers. She said that an unknown person wearing a face-covering exited the vehicle and began shooting at her vehicle before speeding off in an unknown direction. The victim then drove herself to the nearby business on 17th Street and asked the clerk to call for help.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with any information or possible surveillance video from the area of the shooting is asked to call Detective Jeff Rodgers at (812)339-4477. No further information is available to be released at this time.
