
The intersection of Garrison Chapel and Eller Road was closed temporarily after a vehicle collision Friday morning, which involved a school bus. None of the students on the bus were injured according to the MCCSC. The following statement was sent to the Bloomingtonian after a media inquiry about the incident:
“EV5 Bus accident @ 7:30 on Friday, 4/28
We are aware of the bus accident this morning. Families of the students who were on the bus have been notified. No students were injured. The assistant director of transportation arrived at the site to provide shuttle service to school. Additionally, the transportation office has messaged any family whose bus pickup has been delayed due to this accident.”
The MFD said the following on Facebook:
“MFD units responded to the intersection of Garrison Chapel Rd and Eller Rd for a motor vehicle accident just after 7am this morning.
Fire crews arrived to find a pickup truck with heavy front end damage and a school bus with side impact damage. The driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital for further evaluation of their injuries. The bus driver and students on the bus were medically checked out before being released to continue on to school.
The road was temporarily shut down while firefighters cleaned up fluids and debris on the roadway and for Indiana State Police and Monroe County Sheriff Office to complete an investigation as required for any wreck involving a school bus.”
