387 voters reported to polling sites by 8 a.m. on election day in Monroe County, Indiana; Bloomington mayoral job up for grabs

9 a.m. Update: “As if this correspondence, 840 people have voted since the polls opened at 6:00 this morning. Between Early Voting and Election Day, 4,043 voters have cast a ballot.” – Nicole Browne – Monroe County Clerk

The Monroe County Clerk said in an e-mail that only 387 voters had reported to polling sites by 8 a.m.

48 of those voters were at Bloomington High School South, and only one had shown up to vote at the Indiana Memorial Union at Indiana University.

The primary election will decide the next mayor for Bloomington. Three democrats are running for mayor, and there are no GOP candidates. Current mayor John Hamilton did not seek reelection.

City council districts have also been shuffled, and some city council members are competing against each other to be elected.

Polls close at 6 p.m.
