Burglar steals keys at College Mall – May 7, 2023

A 26-year-old man entered College Mall after hours through unlocked doors and stole a keyring with keys to all the businesses in the mall. The burglar then returned the keys and fled, but was arrested by police, and faces charges of burglary and theft.

Vehicle theft – May 7, 2023

A 68-year-old man’s vehicle was stolen while it was parked next to his son’s residence.

Officer-involved collision – May 8, 2023

The driver of a vehicle and a Bloomington Police Department officer was involved in a property damage collision in the 1900 block of South Henderson Street.

Mail tossed onto yards – May 9, 2023

A 53-year-old resident in the 1800 block of North Monroe Street reported that someone was taking the mail out of his mailbox and tossing it onto people’s yards.

Arson – May 9, 2023

A police officer saw a fire under a vehicle belonging to a 42-year-old man in the 900 block of South Rogers Street. The fire was extinguished before causing damage, and a 50-year-old man was arrested for attempted arson.

Car crashes into UPS store – May 9, 2023

A woman’s Honda Fit was damaged when she drove it into the UPS Store in the 800 block of South College Road. Nobody was injured, but several windows of the business were shattered, and metal framing of the building holding windows bent. The collision was the third to damage the business.

Theft at the YMCA – May 9, 2023

A 26-year-old woman’s wallet, backpack, fanny pack, money, credit, and debit cards were stolen from an unlocked locker by an unknown person at the Monroe County YMCA in the 2100 block of South Highland Avenue. The thief then used the cards fraudulently.

Wire fraud – May 9, 2023

A 26-year-old woman was scammed out of her money when she attempted to buy concert tickets from a social media listing.

Indecent exposure – May 10, 2023

A 58-year-old woman reported that an unknown man exposed himself to her after persuading her to approach his vehicle in the 100 block of South Kingston Drive.

Suitcase stolen at the bus station – May 10, 2023

A 33-year-old woman reported that two unknown males stole her suitcase while she was waiting for a bus at the Bloomington Downtown Transit Center in the 300 block of South Walnut.

Purse stolen at Kalao – May 10, 2023

A 24-year-old woman chased down two purse snatchers and got her purse back in the 300 block of South Walnut Street. The woman was at Kalao restaurant when two females took her purse off a table and ran.
