Osteria Rago vandalized – May 19, 2023

The owner of Osteria Rago restaurant reported that an unknown person painted the refrigeration unit, and a van parked behind the restaurant, as well as the exterior of Nick’s English Hut.

Liquor stolen at CVS – May 19, 2023

A manager reported that an unknown male walked into CVS in the 1000 block of North College, took two bottles of liquor, then walked out without paying.

Theft from Kroger – May 19, 2023

A known male walked into Kroger, took 2 Chobani yogurts, a Bluetooth speaker, and a Thelma Ice Cream cookie sandwich, and left the store in the 1000 block of College Mall Road.

Theft at Wheeler Mission – May 19, 2023

A 28-year-old man reported that an unknown suspect stole his power brick when he left it unattended while at the local shelter.

Threats – May 19, 2023

A group of 12-year-old children reported that an unknown female chased them down the road, and made threats, while they were walking a dog in the 1400 block of North Willis Drive. The suspect caused the juveniles to be in fear for their lives.

Aggravated assault at Kroger – May 21, 2023

Officers responded to a fight in the parking lot of the Kroger in the 500 block of South Liberty, on Bloomington’s west side. A 54-year-old man reported that an unknown male punched him in the back of the head causing him to fall and lose consciousness. He sustained injuries to his face, hands, and knees.

Police located a 34-year-old suspect at his residence, where he fled into a garage. The police summary says one shot was fired inside the garage, and then the man was found deceased. Police were investigating the death.

Woman told to leave residence after eviction – May 21, 2023

Officers issued a 42-year-old woman a citation for criminal trespass after she was staying on the back porch of a residence from which she’d been evicted in the 700 block of East Wellington Court.

17-year-old arrested for going over fence at closed city swimming pool – May 21, 2023

Someone called the police to report a group of juveniles going over a fence at Mills Pool, which is closed, and belongs to the City of Bloomington. An officer approached a 17-year-old juvenile who was climbing over a fence, and then ran from the officer. The kid was then arrested and referred to juvenile probation for the charges of resisting arrest, and trespassing, and then released to his mother.

Vehicle vandalized – May 22, 2023

Two unknown males vandalized a 49-year-old woman’s car while she was working at McDonald’s East in the 2800 block of East Third Street.

Police pursuit – May 22, 2023

A police officer initiated a traffic stop on Northbound I-69, but the drive fled before hitting an embankment, then running on foot. The summary says the police spoke to the owner of the “recovered vehicle.” But it doesn’t specify if it was stolen.

Bicycle stolen – May 22, 2023

A 19-year-old reported that someone broke his bicycle lock and stole his back “fixie” bike in the 400 block of North College Avenue. Editor’s note: A fixie is a bike that only has one gear.

Fraud – May 22, 2023

A 51-year-old reported losing money to a known suspect who had her invest in a fraudulent Bitcoin account.

Vehicle stolen then involved in chase – May 22, 2023

A vehicle belonging to a 51-year-old man was stolen at an apartment complex, and then involved in a police chase, and an accident. Police recovered the vehicle.

Bicycle stolen at Tri North Middle School – May 22, 2023

A 33-year-old woman reported her bicycle was stolen in the 1000 block of West 15th Street.

Bike stolen from backyard – May 22, 2023

A 30-year-old man said someone climbed his fence in the 2000 block of South Rogers to steal a bicycle from his backyard. Police later located a 40-year-old female suspect on an unrelated case, but the bicycle has not been recovered.

The same suspect was later shoplifting at CVS in the 2000 block of South Walnut, and fled from officers, before being charged with theft, and resisting law enforcement. The female was in possession of cosmetics, which were returned to the business.
