Fire Breaks Out at Residence on E. Chester Drive in Ellettsville, Causing Damage Wednesday

ELLETTSVILLE, Ind. — June 14, 2023

At approximately 2:38 pm, Wednesday, Engine 81 of the Ellettsville Fire Department had just completed a call for medical assistance when firefighters noticed white smoke billowing from vents at a residence in the 400 block of East Chester Drive. Dispatch was immediately notified, and a team comprising Engine 71, Engine 81, Engine 29, Engine 25, and Medic 212 was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters from Engine 81 made entry into the residence and reported the presence of smoke and heat within the home. It was soon determined that the fire was in the attic. Firefighters battled the blaze to prevent its further spread. The residence sustained damage to the attic and multiple rooms.

During the operation, one firefighter experienced a minor medical condition. The firefighter was treated on the scene.

No occupants were present within the residence at the time the fire broke out, and no additional injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
