SEYMOUR, Ind. — June 20, 2023
A routine traffic stop on Interstate 65 led to the arrest of a murder suspect from Ohio, according to the Indiana State Police. The arrest was made on Saturday, June 19, 2023, near Seymour in Jackson County.
Master Trooper Randel Miller initiated the traffic stop after observing a 2016 Hyundai passenger vehicle committing a traffic violation on I-65 Northbound. The vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Shannon W. Liccardo of Twinsburg, Ohio, later exited the highway onto State Road 11 before coming to a halt.
Initially providing false identification to Trooper Miller, Liccardo eventually disclosed his true identity. A subsequent check revealed that Liccardo was wanted on a murder warrant issued on June 16, 2023, in Maple Heights, Ohio, located in the northeastern part of the state.
Without incident, Trooper Miller took Liccardo into custody. The suspect was then transported to the Jackson County Jail, where he awaits extradition back to Ohio to face the murder charges.
