Dejohntae Zeche Keith Williams, a 30-year-old resident of California, has been sentenced to 8 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine, according to the United States Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Indiana.
According to court documents, on May 7, 2021, an Indiana State Police Trooper pulled over Williams for speeding in a semi-truck on I-65. During a lawful search of the vehicle, troopers discovered two large, black duffel bags on the top bunk of the sleeper berth. Inside the bags, they found individually wrapped plastic packages containing approximately 162 one-pound packages of methamphetamine. The total weight of the seized drugs was approximately 72 kilograms.
In an interview with Homeland Security Investigations Agents, Williams confessed that he was transporting the drugs to Louisville, Kentucky, in exchange for a payment of $30,000.
