Jonquel Jones’ Late Surge Lifts Liberty Over Fever; Fever’s Grace Burger scores 15 points

New York, NY – In a thrilling matchup at Madison Square Garden, the New York Liberty emerged victorious over the Indiana Fever with a final score of 97-89. The Liberty’s Jonquel Jones led the way with a dominant performance in the final minutes of the game.

Despite a slow start, the Liberty managed to turn things around in the second half, thanks in large part to the efforts of Sabrina Ionescu and Jones. Ionescu showcased her versatility by contributing across multiple statistical categories, finishing with an impressive 34 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.

Jones, known for her efficiency, had a stellar game, shooting 62.5% from the field. She also played a pivotal role on defense, tallying 2 blocks and 1 steal. Her clutch play down the stretch helped the Liberty secure the win.

The Fever fought hard throughout the game, with Aliyah Boston leading the charge. Boston led all scorers with 23 points and was a force on the boards, grabbing 9 rebounds. Despite her efforts, the rest of the Fever roster struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 36.7% from the field.

Kelsey Mitchell and Grace Berger also provided significant contributions for the Fever, finishing with 16 and 15 points, respectively. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Liberty’s strong offensive performance.

The absence of key players Lexie Hull, NaLyssa Smith, and Stefanie Dolson due to injury and illness hindered the Fever’s ability to compete at full strength. Meanwhile, Xu Han was sidelined for the Liberty as part of a rest plan.
