Indianapolis, IN – A recent study conducted by Addiction Treatment Magazine has revealed that Indiana is the state seeking drug and alcohol rehabilitation the most. The analysis of Google search data found that Indiana had a significant lead over other states, with an average of 477 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people.
The study examined common search terms associated with rehabilitation and rehabilitation facilities to determine the states with the highest interest in drug and alcohol rehab. The most popular search term in Indiana was “Rehab for alcohol,” which averaged 3,266 monthly searches.
New Hampshire secured the second spot on the list, with an average of 362 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. The most frequently searched term in New Hampshire was “AA meetings near me,” which had an average of 1,125 monthly searches before adjusting for population.
Vermont ranked third, averaging 303 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. Similar to New Hampshire, the most searched term in Vermont was “AA meetings near me,” with an average of 481 monthly searches.
Rhode Island claimed the fourth position, with an average of 268 rehab-related searches per 100,000 people. Notably, more than two-thirds of rehab-related searches in Rhode Island were related to alcohol rehabilitation alone.
The remaining spots in the top ten were occupied by Delaware (fifth), Massachusetts (sixth), Oregon (seventh), Nevada (eighth), Colorado (ninth), and Maine (tenth). East Coast states dominated the list, securing six out of the top ten spots, while Central and West Coast states accounted for two spots each.
Across all 50 states, alcohol-related rehabilitation emerged as the most searched-for topic, highlighting its universal significance.
Addiction Treatment Magazine’s spokesperson commented on the findings, emphasizing the need for accessible resources and support for individuals in these communities. The study provides valuable insights for understanding and addressing the specific needs of states regarding rehabilitation services.

Methodology:
The study utilized a combination of phrases and terms to gather monthly Google keyword search volumes over the past 12 months for each state in the US. The search volumes were aggregated by state and then ranked based on the total search volume for rehab-related terms. To account for population differences, the total search volumes were adjusted to a rate per 100,000 people.
