The Owen County Sheriff’s Office posted the following update Sunday night:
“**UPDATE**
The vehicle was found this evening. Initial investigation determined the vehicle was off of the roadway, in a small revenue, occupied by a single female. That female was identified as Shelby L. Melton. Melton was pronounced deceased by responding emergency personnel. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.”

A 26-year-old Owen County woman, Shelby L. Melton, is missing in Owen County, according to the Owen County Sheriff’s Office. Melton was last seen Saturday, July 29, 2023 driving a blue Chevrolet Sonic.
Melton is a white female, with blond hair, and blue eyes, is 5 feet, 1 inches tall, and weighs 130 pounds.

The Owen County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Shelby L. Melton, a 26 year old white female, 5’ 01”, 130lbs, blonde hair, blue eyes. Shelby was reported last seen in Owen County Saturday morning July 29, 2023 driving a 2014 blue Chevrolet Sonic. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Shelby L.
