Heat index expected in the low 100s to low 110s Thursday in Bloomington, Indiana; Take precautions

The Monroe County Emergency Management Agency passed the following from the National Weather Service to members of the media Tuesday:

“Thursday is predicted to be the hottest day, with a very high heat index. We are providing updates regularly on our social media platforms.

A Heat Advisory will remain in effect for Monroe County until 8 AM on Wednesday, August 23rd.

An Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from 8 AM Wednesday, August 23rd, to midnight Thursday night.

Thursday is predicted to be the warmest day of this week. The heat index may be in the 100s, with low 110s possible.

Cooling stations around the county are open to the public.

Remember to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and know your limitations. Stay safe!”
