Molly Tuttle Show at Switchyard Park to Proceed as Scheduled Amidst Postponement of Kevin Shima Show

Staff report

Bloomington, Indiana – August 24, 2023

The much-anticipated Molly Tuttle show at Switchyard Park tonight, despite the postponement of the Kevin Shima show at Peoples Park by Parks and Recreation due to an “Excessive Heat Warning.”

The Molly Tuttle show is organized by Visit Bloomington.

Concerns regarding the feasibility of holding the Molly Tuttle concert as planned arose in a Facebook discussion on the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

Sarah Mosier wrote, “it’s irresponsible to keep the Molly Tuttle concert on schedule when the heat index is going to be 107 at the start of the show – regardless of if people bring water or use your mist stations. I hope those performers don’t fall right off the stage from heat stroke…”

In response, the Parks and Recreation Department took to Facebook to address these concerns directly. The statement read, “The Molly Tuttle + Golden Highway concert is presented by Visit Bloomington, which encourages concertgoers to bring plenty of drinking water, take advantage of the water misters provided by Parks & Recreation, and spend time in the shade!”

Steven Lualdi offered a suggestion in the comments section, stressing the importance of having an adequate number of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) present at the event and emphasizing the need to keep them well-hydrated as well.

The heat index for Thursday is expected to soar as high as 116 degrees. The challenging weather conditions prompted the postponement of the Kevin Shima show, highlighting the city’s prioritization of attendee safety.

The Molly Tuttle show, featuring the Henhouse Prowlers as the opening act, is slated to commence at 6:00 p.m. and is projected to run until 9:30 p.m.
