Bloomfield man arrested by ISP after 70-120mph pursuit that ended near Bloomington

PURSUIT LEADS TO ARREST OF BLOOMFIELD MAN   While on traffic patrol Tuesday, September 5th, at approximately 8:20 a.m., on southbound Interstate 69 near Bloomington, Trooper Steven Jordan observed a silver pickup truck traveling at an extremely high rate of speed. Trooper Jordan attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating his red/blue lights, but the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated with speeds reaching between 70 and 120 miles per hour. The 2017 Chevrolet silver pickup truck driven by a male subject, later identified as Christopher A. Weaver, 45, of Bloomfield, traveled to the SR46 westbound entrance ramp from I69 and continued westbound on SR46 past Curry Pike, Smith Pike, and Union Valley Road. Weaver refused to stop until he pulled into the parking lot of the Richland Bean Blossom Nursing Home, located at 5911 West SR46 in Ellettsville, where he was immediately taken into custody. Troopers from the Bloomington District, Officers from the Ellettsville Police Department, and a Deputy from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the traffic stop and Weaver’s apprehension. Weaver was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail for the following: Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, a Level 6 Felony Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief, a Class B Misdemeanor Reckless Driving, a Class C Misdemeanor All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. -30- GETZ
