In a Friday night showdown, the Indiana Hoosiers secured a victory against the Indiana State Sycamores, claiming a 41-7 win in a game held at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. The Hoosiers improved to a 1-1 record this season, while the Sycamores dropped to 0-2.
The game got off to an explosive start for Indiana, with the Hoosiers dominating the first quarter. Jaylin Lucas, the star running back for Indiana, was the driving force behind their early success. Lucas executed two 25-yard rushing touchdowns, both followed by successful kicks from Chris Freeman. Tayven Jackson added another 10-yard rushing touchdown for the Hoosiers, putting them ahead 21-0 by the end of the first quarter.
Indiana State finally got on the scoreboard in the second quarter when defensive player Maddix Blackwell made a 75-yard fumble return for a touchdown, and Stephen Ruiz successfully converted the extra point. The second half saw Indiana extending their lead with Nicolas Radicic adding a 21-yard field goal, and their defense holding strong to prevent any further scoring by the Sycamores.
The game ended with a final score of 41-7 in favor of Indiana.
