Bloomington Woman Dies in Early Thursday Morning Collision

Bloomington, Indiana – October 12, 2023

An early morning collision claimed the life of a Bloomington woman on Thursday, as confirmed by Monroe County Coroner Joani Stalcup. The incident unfolded at approximately 2:50 a.m. in the 3900 block of E. 10th Street.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Katherine Hurt, a resident of Bloomington, has died. The exact cause of her death is currently under investigation and will be determined following an autopsy scheduled for tomorrow, on October 13, 2023, in Terre Haute, according to Stalcup.

In the aftermath of the collision, some nearby residents reported a temporary power outage in the area. However, Duke Energy’s repair crews restored power by Thursday afternoon.
