Edgewood High School’s marching band emerged victorious in Class C at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Marching Band State Finals held on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Their performance secured the coveted title, solidifying their reputation as one of Indiana’s top high school marching bands.
In an event that showcased the best of Indiana’s high school marching bands, Edgewood High School’s musicians outperformed their competitors in Class C.
Additionally, other area schools also achieved notable placements in their respective classes at the ISSMA State Finals. Bloomington High School North secured the sixth position in Class B, while Springs Valley High School of French Lick and Paoli High School clinched the seventh and tenth spots, respectively, in Class D.
The ISSMA Marching Band State Finals showcased bands from across Indiana competing for state honors. The event was not only a showcase of musical prowess but also an opportunity for students to display their dedication and teamwork.
Mick Bridgewater, the Executive Director of the Indiana State School Music Association, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Since 1973, Indiana High School Marching Bands have consistently ranked among the nation’s finest, and this is widely known as one of the very best State High School Marching Band events in the country.”
The ISSMA State Finals for High School Marching Bands was sponsored by Music Travel Consultants, with supporting sponsorships from Band Shoppe, Paige’s Music, and Vincennes University. American Dairy Association Indiana and Prairie Farms Dairy also contributed to the event by awarding a $1,000 “Winners Drink Milk” Scholarship to a music student at each of the four state champion schools.
