Staff report written from press release
Bloomington, Indiana – October 29, 2023
Just in time for Halloween, Attorney General Todd Rokita and his legal team are celebrating their defense of Indiana’s landmark 2022 near total abortion ban, dismissing a Satanic Temple’s lawsuit that challenged the law’s constitutionality. The decision was delivered early last week
The Indiana AG sent out a press release with the following headline: “Attorney General Todd Rokita and team beat the hell out of Satanic Temple’s efforts to sacrifice pro-life law.”
“This lawsuit was absurd from the start, but this court decision reaffirms the constitutionality and legality of Indiana’s pro-life law,” Attorney General Rokita declared. “We, as Hoosiers, are steadfast in building a culture of life, regardless of the objections from satanic cultists.”
Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s historic decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in the 2022 Dobbs case, Indiana became the first state in the nation to enact a comprehensive pro-life law.
According to Rokita, the Satanic Temple’s lawsuit hinged on baseless claims that Indiana’s pro-life law violated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) by criminalizing the satanic ritual of abortion.
