The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) has initiated the Military Family Relief Fund (MFRF) Operation Holiday program, accepting applications from November 1 to December 31 until 4 p.m. EST. This program offers Indiana veteran families the opportunity to receive up to $300 per dependent in the household and an additional $200 to cover holiday meal expenses.

Dennis Wimer, the director of the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, emphasized the significance of this initiative during the holiday season. He stated, “The holiday season can often mean tough financial choices for our veterans and their families. The MFRF Operation Holiday program aims to ensure that they can step into the new year without financial hardship.”

Eligibility for the program extends to Indiana veteran and active-duty service member families. The household’s income must not exceed two times the poverty guideline to qualify.

Applicants are required to provide several key documents, including:

  • Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) for those currently serving
  • W-9
  • Direct Deposit form
