Bloomington, Indiana – November 3, 2023
A 39-year-old Bloomington man was discovered dead early Thursday morning outside the Monroe County Public Library.
Allen Mackey, identified as the deceased, was found lifeless at the library premises on 303 E Kirkwood Ave. around 12:01 AM on November 2, 2023. Bloomington Police Department officers responded to a service call for an unresponsive male and discovered Mackey’s body.
Monroe County Coroner Joani Stalcup confirmed Mackey’s identity and stated that he was experiencing homelessness at the time of his passing. Stalcup further reported that an autopsy will be conducted in Terre Haute on Friday, November 3, 2023. However, no foul play is currently suspected in Mackey’s death.
According to the Bloomington Police Department’s daily summary, the incident was logged as Case #: B23-63687, categorized as a “DEATH”. The official date and time of the discovery was recorded as 11/02/2023 at 00:01.
