The Indiana University women’s basketball team beat Eastern Illinois 96-43 on Tuesday night.
The win was coach Teri Moren’s 400th win.
The Hoosiers asserted their control from the beginning, shooting an 65% from the field and securing a 57-point lead at their largest. Indiana’s defense limited Eastern Illinois to a mere 30% shooting from the field.
Leading the charge for Indiana was Mackenzie Holmes (#54), who contributed 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Yarden Garzon (#12) facilitated the offensive onslaught with 7 assists.
Eastern Illinois struggled to find its footing, managing only a 30.2% shooting accuracy. Miah Monahan (#3) led Eastern Illinois in scoring with 13 points, but it wasn’t enough to contend with Indiana’s offensive firepower.
The Hoosiers dominated in various statistical categories, outrebounding Eastern Illinois 38-28, forcing 22 turnovers, and recording 11 steals. Eastern Illinois, on the other hand, failed to establish a consistent offensive rhythm and struggled with turnovers.
The Hoosiers maintained control throughout the game, securing their victory with a comfortable margin.
The Hoosiers will play Stanford University in Palo Alto, California on Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern.
