Bloomington, Indiana – November 12, 2023

The Indiana Hoosiers secured a 1-0 victory against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Sunday, November 12, 2023, to win the Big 10 Tournament Championship at Armstrong Stadium.

The lone goal of the game came at the 37:38 mark when Indiana’s Samuel Sarver found the back of the net, tallying his eighth goal of the season. The Hoosiers’ offensive prowess was on full display, registering a total of 18 shots, with nine in each half. Penn State, on the other hand, managed only one shot in the first half and 11 in the second.

The defensive battle saw both teams playing at a high level, with a total of 15 fouls committed by each side. The intensity of the match was reflected in the cautions issued, with Penn State’s Femi Awodesu, Alex Stevenson, and Samuel Ovesen receiving yellow cards at the 19:44, 28:57, and 67:59 marks, respectively. Indiana’s Joey Maher also earned a caution at the 79:02 mark.

The Hoosiers’ defensive unit, coupled with solid goalkeeping, prevented Penn State from finding the equalizer. The Nittany Lions managed five shots on target, all of which were expertly saved by the Indiana goalkeeper.

The match took place in front of a large crowd at Bill Armstrong Stadium, with an official attendance of 4045 fans.

The victory solidifies Indiana’s position with a record of 12-4-4 overall and 4-2-2 in conference play.
