BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Indiana Hoosiers won 83-66 against the North Alabama Lions at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Wednesday night.
From the onset, the Hoosiers dictated the tempo of the game, establishing a lead in the opening minutes of play. Indiana’s cohesive offensive maneuvers and staunch defense kept the North Alabama Lions trailing throughout the contest.
Leading the charge for Indiana was Malik Reneau, whose stellar performance included a game-high 25 points, along with seven rebounds. Reneau’s efficiency in shooting, going 10-of-14 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc, played a pivotal role in securing the Hoosiers’ dominance.
Joining Reneau in the standout performances were Mackenzie Mgbako and Kel’el Ware, contributing 12 and 8 points respectively. Ware showcased accuracy from the field, shooting 4-of-7 and displaying agility on the court.
The Hoosiers dominated various facets of the game, outperforming North Alabama in critical statistics. Indiana displayed remarkable shooting accuracy, registering an impressive 53.4% from the field and an outstanding 50.0% from the three-point line. Their prowess extended to the free-throw line, where they maintained a solid 64.3% success rate.
North Alabama, despite a commendable effort, struggled to contain Indiana’s offensive onslaught. Tim Smith Jr. led the Lions’ scoring with 11 points, while Damian Forrest contributed 6 points along with 10 rebounds.
The game was attended by a crowd of 15,865 spectators.
With this victory, the Indiana Hoosiers improved their season record to 9-3, while the North Alabama Lions fell to 6-7. The Hoosiers are set to build on this triumph as they progress through the 2023-24 Men’s Basketball season.
