Vehicle Collides with Bicyclist on Foggy Night in Bloomington, Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A vehicle collided with a bicyclist in his 60s near Seminary Park in downtown Bloomington at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023. The incident occurred amidst a dense fog advisory issued by the Monroe County Emergency Management, warning of hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. It wasn’t apparent if the fog had anything to do with the collision.

Following the collision, the bicyclist sought refuge inside the Seminary Kroger. Authorities were alerted and responded to the crash site. Details regarding the condition of the bicyclist have not been disclosed at this time.

The Monroe County Emergency Management had earlier stated at 5:16 p.m. EST on Saturday, cautioning residents about the dense fog advisory in effect until 11 a.m. EST on Sunday. The advisory highlighted visibility as low as one-quarter mile, urging drivers to exercise caution, reduce speed, utilize headlights, and maintain significant distance between vehicles to navigate safely.
