Police and Crime Briefs – December 26-27, 2023

The Bloomington Police Department responded to multiple incidents reported between December 26th and 27th, 2023. These included theft, trespassing, property damage, threats, counterfeiting, drug-related offenses, and traffic violations, resulting in several arrests.

On December 26th, a report was filed regarding the theft of an electric bicycle from a residence on West 11th Street.

Another incident involved a trespassing complaint at a gas station on North Kinser Pike, where a person refused to vacate the premises and was subsequently arrested for criminal trespass.

The following day, on December 27th, a vandalism report was made at a Duke Energy substation on South Rogers, citing the theft of copper wire after someone cut through a fence.

Security at a local apartment complex contacted the police after observing a video showing an individual brandishing a firearm. This led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man on charges of intimidation, criminal recklessness with a firearm, and pointing a firearm at a 40-year-old individual.

On West 9th Street, a person allegedly paid Papa John’s for pizza using counterfeit currency.

During a routine traffic stop at East Winslow Road and South Winslow Court, officers discovered a quantity of marijuana and cash in a vehicle, resulting in an arrest for dealing in marijuana.

In a separate incident on West 3rd Street and South Kimble Drive, law enforcement attempted to stop a driver observed texting while driving. The driver fled before losing control of their vehicle and crashing. Counterfeit bills, illegal drugs, and a handgun were found in the vehicle. The driver was arrested on charges including counterfeiting, resisting law enforcement, unlawful possession of a handgun with a prior conviction, and possession of methamphetamine.

Finally, a report was made concerning the vandalism of a vehicle owned by an individual suspected of being targeted by a known person. A woman reported that another woman slashed all four of her tires on South Market Place.
