Monroe County Justice Building closed until January 22, 2024; No heat in building

Bloomington, Indiana – January 17, 2024

The Monroe County Justice Building will be closed for the rest of the week due to a lack of heating, as reported by several individuals who have reached out to the Bloomingtonian.

An official message states: “Attention Monroe County: The Monroe County Justice Building, along with the Circuit Court, will remain closed for the rest of the week.

The Monroe Circuit Court and all associated offices will be closed for the remainder of this week due to a heating problem in the Justice Building. The Justice Building will resume normal operations on Monday, January 22, 2024.”

It should be noted that the Justice Building also houses the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Monroe County Jail. It is currently unclear whether either of these facilities has adequate heating. Additionally, more snow is expected on Wednesday, with freezing temperatures persisting.
