The residents of the homeless camp behind Wheeler Mission had been given a notice of criminal trespass, which was effective 72 hours after it was posted on January 19, 2023. However, the camp was still occupied Tuesday afternoon.

Two people have been murdered at the camp in the past two months. One was hacked to death with a machete, and the other was shot inside a tent. This will be at least the second eviction of a homeless camp to take place under Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson.
