Jasper, IN – February 4, 2024
A 51-year-old woman from Tell City, Indiana, has been arrested for murder and criminal recklessness with a firearm after allegedly shooting her boyfriend on Saturday night, February 3rd according to the Indiana State Police.
The incident unfolded when officers from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Tell City Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a male victim, identified as Aaron Waninger, had been shot. Upon arrival at the scene, located at an address in Perry County, officers found Waninger unresponsive. Despite their efforts to administer life-saving measures, they were unable to revive him.
Indiana State Police were then requested to assist in the investigation. Detectives engaged with Tonya L. Coomer, and after a thorough inquiry, they concluded that Coomer was responsible for shooting Waninger. Subsequently, Coomer was taken into custody and transported to the Perry County Jail, where she is being held without bond.
The family of the victim has been informed, and an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of Waninger’s death. The case remains under active investigation.
