Indianapolis, IN – February 5, 2024
Indiana State Capitol Police are actively investigating a wave of vehicle vandalization incidents that unfolded on Friday, February 2, 2024, in a downtown Indianapolis parking garage located off Washington Street. Reports indicate that over 50 vehicles were targeted, spray-painted while parked in the garage.
Sergeant John Perrine, Public Information Officer for the Indiana State Capitol Police, announced the ongoing investigation and called for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual captured in photographs related to the incidents.
“We are seeking the cooperation of the community to help us identify the person responsible for these acts of vandalism,” said Sgt. Perrine. “Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could prove crucial to our investigation.”
Citizens with information about the crimes or those who can identify the person in the photos are urged to contact the Indiana State Capitol Police at 317-899-8577. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or through the mobile P3tips app for both Apple and Android phones. Web tips can be submitted at www.CrimeTips.org. Anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 if the information leads to a felony arrest. Only tips submitted directly and anonymously to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.
Sgt. Perrine emphasized that all information provided to Crime Stoppers will be treated as anonymous, and individuals should be aware that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
