Bloomington Fire Department Marks 124 Years of Service During Annual Award Ceremony Saturday

Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson extended a welcome to guests and members of the City of Bloomington Fire Department at the Annual Bloomington Fire Department Award Ceremony held on Saturday, February 17th at City Hall.

The ceremony commemorated the 124th anniversary of the founding of the Bloomington Fire Department. On February 17, 1900, the city council took a historic step by passing an ordinance that established the city’s first paid fire department. This pivotal moment in the city’s history not only marked the birth of a crucial public service but laid the foundation for the annual tradition of recognizing the bravery and dedication of the men and women of the Bloomington Fire Department.
