Valentine’s Day Event at Statehouse Celebrates Support for Developmental Disabilities

INDIANAPOLIS — February 20, 2024

Advocates for individuals with developmental disabilities converged at the Statehouse on Valentine’s Day 2024 to express gratitude to legislators for their ongoing support. More than 30 representatives from Stone Belt, Self-Advocates of Monroe County, and Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) participated in The Arc of Indiana’s Annual Valentine’s Day event.

The advocates, consisting of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their supporters, delivered valentines to legislators and other elected leaders during the event on February 14.

The primary objective of the gathering was to facilitate face-to-face interactions between individuals with I/DD and lawmakers, providing an opportunity for heartfelt expressions of appreciation. The advocates aimed to thank legislators for their unwavering support of funding and policies that benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
