Mobile Home Fire Claims Two Lives in Martinsville, Indiana, Sunday Morning

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. – March 4, 2024

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the Martinsville Fire Department (MFD) responded to a mobile home fire on Outer Drive near Sunset Manor, with assistance from Washington Township and Green Township fire departments.Two people died in the fire.

At 05:43 A.M., MFD Chief 1402 arrived at the scene to find a one-story manufactured home engulfed in flames coming from two windows. Information obtained from Morgan County Public Safety Dispatch indicated that occupants were still believed to be inside.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack while simultaneously conducting a search for the missing occupants, according to the MFD Upon reaching the victims, they were found deceased inside the mobile home.

The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with the MFD Fire Marshal leading the inquiry. Martinsville Police Department (MPD) detectives, along with investigators from Washington Township and the Indiana State Fire Marshal Office, are actively involved in the investigation.

Assisting agencies on the scene included Martinsville Police, Morgan County EMS, Morgan County Public Safety Dispatch, and the Morgan County Coroner.
