Multi-Motorcycle Crash on South State Road 446 Prompts Investigation

BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA – March 4, 2024

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident involving three motorcycles at the intersection of South State Road 446 and East Salt Creek Drive, Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 3:55 P.M.,

Upon arrival, deputies immediately provided aid to the injured motorcyclists. One of the riders sustained severe lower leg injuries, necessitating their evacuation from the scene via helicopter for urgent medical attention.

In response to the incident, South State Road 446 experienced a temporary closure for approximately two hours. The closure facilitated the thorough investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office accident reconstructionist, seeking to determine the circumstances leading to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the Monroe Fire Protection District and IU Health Ambulance Service, who played a vital role in assisting with the emergency response.
