Bloomington Chamber Singers to Present Handel’s Messiah Sing, Parts 2 & 3 on March 24, 2024

BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA – March 2, 2024 – The Bloomington Chamber Singers, under the direction of Music Director Dr. Gerald Sousa, will host a sing-along reading of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, featuring Parts 2 and 3. The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 24, at 3 pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, located at 100 N. State Rd. 46 in Bloomington.

Easter Sections Highlighted

The selected sections, often referred to as the Easter sections, delve into the themes of Christ’s death and resurrection, providing a profound and moving experience for the audience. Attendees are encouraged to actively participate by singing along or simply relishing in the choruses, recitatives, and arias performed by the talented members of the Bloomington Chamber Singers. The musical ensemble will be accompanied by an orchestra generously sponsored by the Smithville Foundation.

For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the event will be accessible, ensuring that the community can enjoy the performance from the comfort of their homes.

Admission and Community Involvement

Admission to this musical celebration is free of charge. The Bloomington Chamber Singers extend a warm invitation for attendees to contribute to the local community by bringing nonperishable food items for donation to a local food pantry.

Additionally, for individuals without a personal copy of the score, a limited number will be available for loan at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
