A 21-year-old man from St. Louis, Missouri, was arrested by the Indiana State Police in Posey County on Saturday night after leading authorities on a high-speed chase, ultimately resulting in a collision with another vehicle, according to the ISP.

A pursuit began on March 9 around 7:05 p.m. when Trooper Backes, stationed near the 9 mile-marker on I-64, detected a 2015 Infiniti traveling east at 95 mph using stationary radar. Attempting to pull over the speeding vehicle, Trooper Backes witnessed the driver accelerate further, reaching 130 mph. Subsequently, the driver exited I-64 at the Poseyville exit, veered left of center on SR 165 at the exit ramp, and collided with a 1997 Ford F250 pickup truck traveling north.

The impact required the intervention of the Poseyville Volunteer Fire Department to extricate the 52-year-old male driver from Owensville, who was then transported to Deaconess Midtown Hospital, with serious injuries.

The driver of the 2015 Infiniti, identified as Amir Tuzlakovic, 21, was arrested and taken into custody. He is currently held at the Posey County Jail on bond.

Amir Tuzlakovic faces the following charges:

  • Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle and causing Serious Bodily Injury, Level 5 Felony
  • Criminal Recklessness with a Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
  • Reckless Driving Causing Injury, Class A Misdemeanor

The arresting officer, Trooper D. Backes of the Indiana State Police, played a role in bringing Tuzlakovic into custody.

All charges are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
