Police Ask for Help in Unsolved Murder Case of James Stewart of Bloomington, Indiana

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has issued a renewed plea for public assistance in solving the murder of James Stewart, whose life was tragically cut short by a gunshot wound in February 2023.

In a Facebook post, Crime Stoppers urged the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of Stewart’s killer. Stewart’s sister, speaking out about the unsolved case, emphasized the urgency of finding justice for her late brother, of Bloomington, Indiana who had recently relocated to Oolitic.

The incident occurred on February 24, 2023, around 1:00 pm, when Stewart was discovered deceased in his camper near Lafayette Avenue. Despite ongoing investigative efforts by detectives, the case remains unresolved, leaving Stewart’s family grappling with unanswered questions and unresolved grief.

Detectives have pursued leads and conducted laboratory analyses in their quest to piece together the events leading to Stewart’s death. However, they believe that crucial information crucial to solving the case may still be held by someone in the community.

As the investigation continues, the community remains urged to come forward with any information that may provide closure for Stewart’s family and bring his perpetrator to justice.
