Bloomington, Indiana – April 16, 2024


Police Respond to Assault and Attempted Disarmament Incident


Bloomington police responded to an assault incident at the Video Saloon located at 105 W 7th St on April 3, 2024, around 1:11 a.m.
According to the incident report, a male, 22, reported a mutual battery involving an unknown male, with no reported injuries. A male, 51, and another male, 73, intervened and were also battered, with no reported injuries. None of the involved parties expressed a desire to pursue charges.


As officers attempted to detain the 21-year-old male suspect for transportation to jail, he attempted to grab and yank free an officer’s weapon before being handcuffed. The suspect was subsequently transported to a hospital for jail clearance.


Supplementary information reveals that multiple officers and a sergeant were involved in detaining the suspect. An officer interviewed subjects at the scene, and an arrest probable cause affidavit was completed for the suspect, identified as a male, 21.

Witten was arrested on charges including disorderly conduct, public intoxication, possession of cocaine, resisting law enforcement, and attempted disarming of a police officer. Additional paperwork was added to the case file on April 3, 2024.


Theft from Vehicle Reported in Arlington Valley Trailer Park


Bloomington Police Department responded to a theft from a motor vehicle incident at 1600 N Willis Dr, Arlington Valley Trailer Park, Lot 231, on April 4, 2024, at 7:44 a.m.


According to the initial report, a male, 25, informed authorities that an unknown individual entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his handgun.


Further details regarding the incident are pending as the investigation continues.


Arrest Made in Possession of Stolen Property Case


Bloomington Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious individual at the intersection of E Winslow Rd & S Walnut Street Pike on April 5, 2024, at 2:53 p.m.

A police officer observed a subject riding a bicycle, exhibiting unsafe lane changes, failure to signal a turn, and failure to yield to oncoming traffic. Upon making contact with the subject, it was discovered that she was riding a stolen bicycle. The bicycle was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.
Subsequently, a male, 32, was arrested and remanded to jail for theft and possession of methamphetamine.


A probable cause affidavit for the arrest of the suspect has been filed.


Robbery Incident Reported at Night Moves

Bloomington Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at Night Moves, located at 3160 S Walnut St, on April 6, 2024, at 3:13 a.m.


According to the incident report, a female, 34, reported that an unknown female attempted to rip her purse out of her hand, resulting in no reported pain or injury, and no loss was incurred. A female, 27, reported a similar incident where the suspect grabbed cash from her hands, also with no reported pain or injury. Another female, 23, reported that the same unknown female suspect shoved her in the chest and demanded money, again with no reported pain or injury.


At this time, the females have indicated they do not wish to pursue criminal charges.


Arrest Made Following Assault Incident at Crawford Apartments


Bloomington Police Department responded to an assault incident at Crawford Apartments 2, located at 2446 S Henderson St, on April 8, 2024, at 11:50 p.m.


According to the incident report, a female, 22, reported that a known female spat on her shoe, resulting in no reported pain or injury. Another female, 40, reported a more severe altercation, alleging that the same known female began throwing rocks at a vehicle she was operating, owned by a female, 59.

The rocks shattered the driver’s side window, striking a woman in the face. The suspect then allegedly charged at the victim, grabbing her by the shirt, dragging her out of the vehicle, and pulling her across the ground. This resulted in welts above the victim’s eye that were actively bleeding.


As a result of the incident, a female suspect was remanded to jail for battery, criminal mischief, and drug charges.
