Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard Celebrates Grand Opening in Bloomington with Free Rita’s for a Year Giveaways

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Bloomington residents are in for a sweet treat as Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard announces the grand opening of its newest location at 430 E Kirkwood Avenue this Friday, April 26.

The festivities kick off at 3 p.m., where the first 50 guests in line will be rewarded with Free Rita’s Italian Ice for a Year. Alongside the giveaways, patrons can indulge in photo opportunities with Rita’s mascot Ice Guy, spin the Rita’s prize wheel, enjoy merchandise giveaways, and even have their faces painted. Special discounts including $2 Small Italian Ice and $3 Small Gelati will be offered from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28.

Local franchisee Steve Wilkos will mark the occasion with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. As part of the celebration, Wilkos will generously donate 20 percent of total sales on Friday, April 26 to Middle Way House, an organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, as well as educating the community through outreach and prevention programs.

Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, the world’s largest Italian Ice & Frozen Custard brand, traces its roots back to 1984 when Philadelphia firefighter Bob Tumolo created a family recipe featuring real fruit, named after his wife Rita.
