Bloomington, Indiana – May 14, 2024

A series of incidents ranging from assault to theft and vandalism have been reported in Bloomington, Indiana from May 9-12, 2024, according to daily police summaries.

On May 9, 2024, at approximately 10:36 p.m., authorities responded to an assault at 1709 W 8th St, Valhalla Mobile Manor. A female, 23, reported being assaulted by a known male who struck her with the handle of a firearm and with a wooden pole. She also reported being struck by a known female with a metal baton, resulting in injuries including a fracture to her right hand, a scalp laceration, and a bleeding lip. Another female, 41, also reported being assaulted by a known male and female, resulting in a large laceration to the left side of her face and multiple bruises.

The following day, incidents of property damage and theft were reported. A male, 25, reported that two tires were slashed on his truck parked at 1421 N Willis Dr, Classic Bowling Lanes. A male, 56, reported a utility trailer containing two stand-up lawn mowers stolen from 650 S Walker St. Additionally, a woman, 70, reported being scammed out of money by an unknown suspect impersonating authorities, in the 600 block of S Fess Ave.

Further disturbances occurred at local establishments. At Taco Bell North, located at 309 N Walnut St, an employee reported that a known male caused a disturbance and shattered a toilet lid in the bathroom. A male, 32, was issued a misdemeanor citation for criminal mischief.

On May 12, 2024, a burglary was reported in the 400 block of E Kirkwood Ave. A male, 21, reported a female entered his unlocked residence, stole keys to a vehicle registered to another male, 66, and various items including clothing and dishware. The suspect, a female, 25, was caught and charged with multiple offenses including burglary, theft, and unauthorized entry of a vehicle.

Other incidents reported include a vehicle theft at 455 N College Ave, The Avenue on College, and a burglary in the 1100 block of S Sugar Maple Ct, where a person, 23, reported various items stolen and a window broken.

Additionally, on May 12, 2024, at approximately 2:27 p.m., authorities responded to a welfare check at 1560 W Bloomfield Rd, Circle S Gas Bloomfield Rd, where a 40-year-old female was transported to a hospital for evaluation after walking naked down a street and making statements of self-harm.
