USA International Harp Competition Announces Dates for 2025

June 3, 2024 — Bloomington, IN: The USA International Harp Competition (USAIHC) has announced the dates for its 13th triennial competition, scheduled to take place from May 14 to May 24, 2025, at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.

Founded in 1989 by the distinguished harpist Susann McDonald, the USAIHC has grown into one of the most prestigious harp competitions globally. “We are pleased to work with Indiana University to continue our 35-year tradition,” said Joyce Claflin, President of the Board. The competition boasts exclusive sponsorship from Indiana University, Lyon & Healy, and Salvi Harps.

The event will draw hundreds of music lovers, contestants, families, and friends from around the world to Bloomington for ten days of vibrant competition and concerts. While many events are free to the public, ticketed events are known to sell out quickly. A complete schedule of events and locations will be available soon on the USAIHC website and social media platforms.

The 13th competition is open to harpists of all nationalities between the ages of 18 and 32. The application deadline is November 15, 2024, with acceptance notifications to be sent out by January 2, 2025. This year’s application video requirements include two Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti and the Impromptu Op. 86 by Gabriel Fauré. Applicants can find the online form at All repertoire must be performed from memory, except for the winning work from the USAIHC Ruth Inglefield Composition Contest in Stage III.
