Will Power Wins Road America Race Sunday in Wisconsin

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. — Will Power claimed a dramatic victory in the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America on Sunday, June 9, 2024, showcasing his experience and skill in a tightly contested race. It was Power’s first win in over 700 days.

Power, driving the No. 12 car, took the checkered flag after completing 55 laps with a total time of 1:45:00.0267. He led the race for nine laps, finishing with an average speed of 126.154 mph. This win marks Power’s fifth start of the season and earns him 51 points.

Josef Newgarden, in car No. 2, secured second place with a time of 1:45:03.2876, leading the race for 10 laps. Newgarden’s performance garnered him 41 points, as he maintained an average speed of 126.088 mph.

Scott McLaughlin, driving car No. 3, completed the podium in third place, finishing in 1:45:08.0415. McLaughlin led the most laps with 18 and earned 38 points, maintaining an average speed of 125.993 mph.

Alex Palou and Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top five, with Palou finishing fourth in the No. 10 car and Kirkwood securing fifth place in the No. 27 car. Palou’s total race time was 1:45:16.7385, while Kirkwood finished closely behind at 1:45:24.8929.

Colton Herta, who led nine laps, finished sixth in the No. 26 car with a time of 1:45:28.4049. Romain Grosjean, in car No. 77, came in seventh, followed by Pato O’Ward in the No. 5 car, Marcus Ericsson in the No. 28 car, and Graham Rahal in the No. 15 car, completing the top ten.

The race was marked by strategic pit stops, with most drivers making three stops. Colton Herta and Linus Lundqvist had five pit stops each.

Marcus Armstrong and Kyffin Simpson faced early exits due to mechanical issues and contact, respectively. Armstrong, in the No. 11 car, completed 35 laps before retiring, while Simpson, in the No. 4 car, was forced out after just five laps.
