Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with SUV in Monroe County, Indiana Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (June 10, 2024) — A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday evening at the intersection of E. Dillman Road and S. Old State Road 37, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 5:42 p.m., where they found a 2020 Dodge Durango SUV and a Yamaha motorcycle involved in the collision. Preliminary witness statements indicated that the motorcycle was traveling east on E. Dillman Road at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a stop sign before colliding with the northbound SUV on S. Old State Road 37.

Lifesaving measures, including CPR and the use of an AED, were administered to the motorcycle driver by deputies. Despite these efforts, the driver was pronounced dead by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office, according to the MCSO.

The identity of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification of family members. The Monroe County Crash Reconstruction team is currently investigating the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office expressed thanks to the Monroe County Fire Protection District, IU Health Ambulance Service, Monroe County Coroner’s Office, and the Bloomington City Police Department for their assistance at the scene.
