Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington to Host Free Intro to Semiconductors Workshop in July

Bloomington, Ind. — June 16, 2024

Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington will host an Introduction to Semiconductors training session from July 1-3, running daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This free, three-day workshop aims to introduce participants to local careers in the emerging semiconductor field. The training is open to the public, with a cap of 16 participants.

“Participants will receive hands-on skills training that can lead to careers in the lucrative field of semiconductor manufacturing,” said Michael Waterford, Microelectronics and Department of Defense Employer Liaison at Ivy Tech Bloomington. “The workshop offers an entry-level overview for anyone exploring career pathways or considering a career change.”

The workshop will feature interactive sessions led by Ivy Tech faculty, including activities such as building robots, programming automation equipment, and soldering circuit boards. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the semiconductor industry and have the opportunity to hear from local industry representatives and hiring managers.
