Staff report

Bloomington, Ind. – June 18, 2024 – The Boys & Girls Club of Monroe County is set to host its 13th annual Lemonade Day this Saturday, June 22. This free community event aims to teach children about entrepreneurship and is open to all kids in the area.

“Lemonade Day is a National Program and we run it for our Community Youth,” said Laura Blaker, Events Director and Lemonade Day City Director for the Boys & Girls Club. “We are very excited for the first time ever, a representative from National Lemonade Day is coming to see our Lemonade Day this year!”

The program, which has been a staple in the community for over a decade, is in partnership with The Mill for the third consecutive year. The Mill, known for its commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship, assists in running the event.

“It’s a free program for all kids in the community to teach them about entrepreneurship. The Boys & Girls Club has been doing this program for the community for 13 years.,” Blaker added. Stands will be set up all over Monroe County, including downtown, southside, eastside, westside, and northside.

The Boys & Girls Club is also preparing to release a map showing the locations of all lemonade stands, with The Mill’s marketing department working on the final touches. This map is expected to be available today and will be shared online to help community members find and support the young entrepreneurs.
