Chipotle Launches New Menu Item Inspired by Bloomington Local Kel’el Ware Ahead of NBA Draft

DENVER (June 20, 2024) – Chipotle Mexican Grill announced today a collaboration with pro basketball prospect Kel’el Ware to fuel his pre-draft journey. For a limited time, the Kel’el Ware Burrito, featuring half Chicken al Pastor, half steak, white rice, sour cream, cheese, and lettuce, will be available as a digital menu item on the Chipotle app and

Ware, who starred at Indiana University, earned numerous accolades during his sophomore year. He was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team by the media and the All-Big Ten Third Team by the coaches. Additionally, Ware was selected for the Big Ten All-Defensive Team. He finished the season second in the Big Ten in double-doubles (15), rebounds (9.9), and field goal percentage (58.6%), and ranked fifth in blocks (1.9) and 12th in points (15.9). Ware started all 30 games, leading the Hoosiers in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, and field goal percentage.

In addition to the special menu item, Chipotle enlisted sportscaster Ashley Brewer to host an interview with Ware for a Chipotle “Unwrapped” video. During the conversation, Ware, a former Hoosiers star, shares the origin of his unique name.
