Bloomington, IN – Detectives from the Bloomington Police Department (BPD) have been recognized by the Indiana State Police (ISP) for their exemplary work in combating internet crimes against children, according to Bloomington Police Department Captain Ryan Pedigo who sent a news release to members of the media.

On June 21, 2024, the BPD was awarded the 2023 Indiana ICAC Task Force Affiliate of the Year. This prestigious honor was presented during a ceremony in Indianapolis by ISP First Sergeant Christopher Cecil, Commander of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The award was received by Detective Kevin Frank, Detective Jon Muscato, Sergeant Cody Forston, and Lieutenant Lucas Tate, acknowledging their exceptional efforts throughout 2023. BPD detectives investigated 168 cybercrime complaints involving children, with 130 of these cases originating as cybertips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Their rigorous investigations led to the issuance of 53 court orders, 172 search warrants, and numerous forensic examinations of digital media devices such as computers and phones. These efforts have resulted in 13 arrests, with suspects facing both state and federal charges. Several investigations remain ongoing, extending beyond the Bloomington city limits to Monroe County and surrounding areas.

Chief Michael Diekhoff praised the dedication and professionalism of the ICAC Task Force members, stating, “The work that these investigators do on a daily basis is extremely important, as they are protecting the children of our community. I am very proud of our ICAC Task Force members, their dedication and professionalism. I thank the Indiana State Police for their recognition of BPD investigators.”
